Students › Logging In
Your school code is a unique code assigned to your school. Your teacher or school admin will have it — ask them if you haven't been given it yet.
Your login ID is set by your school admin. Your teacher can look it up for you from their dashboard.
- 1 Animal Bonds doesn't send password reset emails. Passwords are managed by your school.
- 2 Ask your teacher or school admin to reset your password.
- 3 They'll get a new temporary password to give you.
- 4 Once you're logged in, go to Settings (⚙️ icon on the map screen) to set your own password.
- 1 Check that Caps Lock is off. Passwords are case-sensitive.
- 2 If this is your first time logging in, use the temporary password your teacher gave you.
- 3 If you've changed your password before, use your new one (the original temporary password no longer works after you change it).
- 4 If none of the above works, ask your teacher to reset your password.
- 1 Double-check your school code: it should be all capitals with no spaces or dots.
- 2 Double-check your login ID: all capitals, no spaces.
- 3 Try refreshing the page and logging in again.
- 4 Try a different browser (Google Chrome works best).
- 5 If you're using the installed app on your device, try opening play.animalbonds.co.uk in a browser instead.
Students › Game Name
Game names (like "FoxBridge" or "BearHaven") are automatically generated when your account is created. They're meant to be fun and animal-themed. You can't change your game name yourself, but your school admin can update it for you at any time — ask your teacher to arrange it.
Game names are assigned automatically to keep every name unique across the whole app. Your school admin can update your game name at any time if needed — ask your teacher to arrange it.
Students › Zones & Progress
- 1 To unlock the next zone (Garden → Woodland → Savannah → Sky Peaks), you need to beat the Apex Trial, the race against the gatekeeper animal for that zone.
- 2 You need at least 60% accuracy in the Apex Trial to unlock the next zone.
- 3 If you didn't reach 60%, keep practising. Go to Training Burrow and work on the bonds shown in red or orange on your Brainbow.
- 4 Once your Brainbow shows more green bonds, try the Apex Trial again.
- 1 The Brainbow only updates after you complete a full session and see the results screen.
- 2 If you closed the game or browser before seeing the results, that session wasn't saved.
- 3 Finish a full session and then check your Brainbow again.
- 4 If it still isn't updating after that, try refreshing the page.
- 1 Make sure you're logging in with exactly the same school code and login ID you used before. A small typo will load a different account.
- 2 If you're on a shared or school device, make sure nobody else is logged in. Log out and log back in with your own details.
- 3 If you're using the installed app, try logging in via play.animalbonds.co.uk in a browser to confirm your data is there.
- 4 If you still can't see your progress, contact your teacher. They can check your account from their dashboard.
- 1 Badges are awarded at the end of a completed session. You must reach the results screen.
- 2 After finishing a session, open the Badges page from the map to check.
- 3 If a badge you're sure you earned isn't there, try logging out and logging back in.
If you can't see Quick Strike or the Multiplayer tab, your teacher has likely enabled Relaxed Mode for you. This removes time-pressure features so you can focus on accuracy at your own pace. It's set by your teacher and can't be changed by you. If you think it's been turned on by mistake, speak to your teacher.
Students › Coins & Scores
- 1 Coins are only saved when you complete a session and see the results screen. Closing the game early means that session's coins are lost.
- 2 Here's how coins are earned: +5 per correct answer, +3 bonus for bonds you find new or tricky, +2 for a new personal-best response time, +20 for your first session of the day, and +10 every time your streak hits a multiple of 5.
- 3 If coins still look off, try refreshing the page or logging out and back in.
Your streak counts how many days in a row you play at least one complete session. Streaks reset at midnight. If you missed a day (even by a few minutes past midnight), the streak starts from zero. Once broken, there's no way to recover those days. Try to play at least one session every day to keep it going.
- 1 In the standard Apex Trial, your rank depends on the accuracy you achieved across the session.
- 2 In Relaxed Mode, your rank is based on your CSC score — a running total of your correct answers.
- 3 Scores are only recorded from completed sessions. If you closed the app mid-race, no score was saved.
- 4 If you believe there's a genuine error, ask your teacher. They can view your session history from the dashboard.
Students › Multiplayer
- 1 Watering Hole is just for your classmates — all players must be in the same classroom and on the same zone.
- 2 Great Migration Race lets you play against anyone else in your school, not just your class.
- 3 For Watering Hole, make sure your teacher coordinates the start so everyone clicks Join at the same time.
- 4 The lobby doesn't close after a set time. If not enough players have joined, you'll roll over into the next lobby and keep waiting — so just stay on the screen.
- 5 Check that everyone has the Multiplayer tab. Students on Relaxed Mode won't have access to it.
If you close the multiplayer panel, lose your internet connection, or navigate away during a race, you'll be marked as abandoned and won't receive a medal or coins for that race. Try to stay on screen until the race finishes. If your connection is unreliable, speak to your teacher about playing single-player modes instead.
You need at least 2 players for a multiplayer lobby to launch. If not enough players have joined, you'll roll over into the next lobby automatically — you don't get kicked out, you just keep waiting. This usually means classmates aren't joining at the same time. Ask your teacher to run the activity with everyone joining together on a signal.
Students › Speed & Accessibility
If the game feels too fast, or you're getting worried about your response times, speak to your teacher. They have access to adaptability features from their dashboard — including adjusting the speed settings so you have more time to respond.
Teachers › Viewing Student Data
Student data only appears after they've completed at least one full session. Newly enrolled students who haven't played yet won't show any data at all. Check that the student has logged in and finished a session. If not, share their login details and ask them to play.
The at-risk flag appears automatically when a student has had no activity for 7 or more days, or when their accuracy falls below 60% across 5 or more sessions. Students with fewer than 5 sessions won't trigger the flag yet. You can always click on any student's name to view their full progress report regardless of whether they're flagged.
Students must be enrolled in your specific classroom by the school admin. If a student is missing, contact your admin and ask them to check that the student is enrolled in the right classroom. Students only appear on your dashboard if they're in one of your assigned classrooms.
- 1 Go to the Teacher Dashboard and open your classroom.
- 2 Click on the student's name in the list.
- 3 This opens a detailed report including their Brainbow, accuracy trends, error pattern analysis, and slow zones.
Teachers › Student Settings
- 1 Go to the Teacher Dashboard and open your classroom.
- 2 Find the student in the list and click their name.
- 3 On their profile page, find the Relaxed Mode toggle and turn it on.
- 4 The change takes effect immediately. Quick Strike and Multiplayer will be hidden for that student, and Apex Trial will switch to CSC scoring.
- 1 Go to the Teacher Dashboard and open your classroom.
- 2 Click on the student's name.
- 3 On their profile page, find the Speed Multiplier setting.
- 4 Adjust it between 0.25× (much more time) and 3.0× (less time).
Yes. The game includes foreground and background text colour selectors on the game screen. These let you set the exact colour combination that works best for each pupil, which is especially useful for children with dyslexia. The settings are available on the student's profile in your Teacher Dashboard.
Teachers › Zone Unlocking
- 1 Click on the student's name in your dashboard to open their full progress report.
- 2 Check their Brainbow heatmap. Bonds shown in red or orange need more practice before the Apex Trial.
- 3 Encourage the student to use Training Burrow, which gives bonus coins for working on weak bonds specifically.
- 4 Once more bonds are green on the Brainbow, the student should have a much better chance in the Apex Trial (which requires 60% accuracy).
- 5 If time pressure is part of the problem, consider enabling Relaxed Mode. This switches Apex Trial to CSC scoring instead, removing the speed barrier.
Teachers › Certificates
- 1 Certificates are awarded automatically when a student unlocks a new zone (Biome Unlock certificate) or gets all bonds fully green in a zone (Brainbow Mastery certificate).
- 2 Outstanding certificates appear on the student's profile page in your Teacher Dashboard.
- 3 Click Print to print the certificate directly.
- 4 Once you've given the certificate to the student, click "Mark as handed out" to keep your records tidy.
Teachers › Running Multiplayer
- 1 Tell all students to open Animal Bonds and go to the Multiplayer tab.
- 2 Students should ideally all be on the same zone for a fair race.
- 3 On your signal, everyone clicks "Join Rumble" at the same time.
- 4 The lobby doesn't close after a set time — if not enough players have joined it rolls over into the next one automatically. The race starts as soon as enough players are ready.
- 5 Results appear in your Teacher Dashboard under "Recent Races" afterwards.
Admins › Passwords & Login Details
- 1 Go to Admin → Users tab.
- 2 Search for the student by name.
- 3 Click Reset Password.
- 4 The system generates a new temporary password which is shown on screen.
- 5 Share this new password with the student. They can change it themselves from Settings once they're logged in.
- 1 Go to Admin → Users tab.
- 2 Click "Download Credentials CSV".
- 3 This downloads a spreadsheet with every user's name, login ID, and current temporary password.
- 4 Print it and cut into individual slips to hand out, or share it securely with teachers to distribute.
- 1 Go to Admin → Users tab.
- 2 Search by the student's display name.
- 3 Their login ID is shown in the user list alongside their name and role.
Admins › Account Management
- 1 Go to Admin → Users tab and click Bulk Import.
- 2 Paste in a list of student names (one name per line).
- 3 Select the classroom they should be enrolled in.
- 4 Click Import. The system automatically generates a login ID and password for each student.
- 5 Download the Credentials CSV immediately after import to get everyone's login details.
- 1 Go to Admin → Users tab and find the student.
- 2 Click "Regenerate Game Name" to assign a new random one. You can do this at any time, regardless of whether the student has already logged in.
- 1 Go to Admin → Users tab and find the student.
- 2 Click Edit.
- 3 Update their display name or login ID and save.
- 1 Go to Admin → Users tab and find the student.
- 2 Click Delete and confirm.
Admins › Parent Accounts
- 1 First, create a parent account via Admin → Users and select "Parent" as the role.
- 2 Go to Admin → Parents tab.
- 3 Find the parent's account and use the link controls to associate them with one or more students.
- 4 The parent can then log in and view their child's progress.
Parents log in exactly like students, using the school code and their own login ID. They see a read-only view of their linked child's progress. Create parent accounts via Admin → Users, choosing "Parent" as the role. Use the Credentials CSV to get their login details to share.
Admins › School Setup
The school code is the unique identifier for your school (for example, OAKWOOD). It's visible in your Admin dashboard settings. Every student and parent at your school enters this code as part of their login. You can share the school code freely. On its own it doesn't grant access to any account. A password is always required alongside it.

Animal Bonds requires an internet connection to play and save your progress. Some pages may load from cache while offline, but you won't be able to play sessions, earn coins, or join multiplayer without a connection. If you go offline mid-session, your progress for that session won't be saved.
