This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on the Animal Bonds marketing site (animalbonds.co.uk) and in the game (play.animalbonds.co.uk).
We keep this simple, because we use very few cookies and we never use them for advertising.
The short version
- We never use advertising or tracking cookies. Not now, not ever.
- We do not sell or share any data with advertising networks or data brokers.
- The marketing site sets no cookies of its own.
- The game uses a small number of strictly necessary cookies so that signing in works.
- We measure marketing-site visits using a cookieless analytics tool, so no cookie is set and no individual is tracked across sites.
1. The marketing site (animalbonds.co.uk)
The marketing site is a static information site. It does not set any cookies of its own.
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand, in aggregate, which pages are visited and how the site is performing. Vercel Web Analytics is privacy-friendly: it is cookieless, it does not store a persistent identifier on your device, it does not track you across other websites, and it does not collect data that identifies you personally. The data we see is aggregated, such as page views and the type of device used. More detail is in our Privacy Policy.
2. The game (play.animalbonds.co.uk)
To sign a teacher, parent, school administrator, or pupil into the game, we use strictly necessary cookies. These keep you logged in as you move between pages and keep your session secure. They are set by our authentication provider (Supabase) and are essential to the service: the game cannot work without them.
These cookies:
- Do not track you across other websites.
- Are not used for advertising or profiling.
- Are removed when you sign out, or expire automatically after a period of inactivity.

We do not use functional, preference, advertising, or third-party tracking cookies in the game.
3. Consent
Because the marketing site sets no cookies, and the only cookies used in the game are strictly necessary for it to function, we do not need to ask for cookie consent for advertising or tracking. Strictly necessary cookies are exempt from consent requirements under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), because the service you have asked for cannot be provided without them.
4. Managing cookies
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block or remove cookies for a specific site. Please note that if you block the strictly necessary cookies used by the game, you will not be able to sign in or use it.

5. Changes to this policy
If we ever change the cookies we use, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date above. We will never introduce advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
